Kennedy did during the Cuban Missile Crisis? What if the threat of nuclear weapons came from a country that also contemporaneously supported a worldwide Terrorist Organization?
Tiger Island is a novel based on actual historical events. In late 1983 and early 1984 a true-life classified mission took place on Isla Del Tigre - Tiger Island, Honduras. There, and in the surrounding Central American area, this Top Secret Operation was conducted by elements of the U.S. Marine Corps, Army Special Forces, the Navy SEALs, and the CIA.
"Rebels" in Nicaragua and El Salvador were threatening Honduras and Washington decided to intervene. The President felt that a "land bridge" to the United States could ultimately be created with an insurgent take over there.
An article was published in the New York Times on August 14, 1984 by Philip Taubman: DISPUTE OVER MARINE WOUNDED IN HONDURAS regarding the action in that theatre. Then Senator Jim Sasser obtained and gave a classified report that Captain Compton wrote, as Officer in Charge, following the incident to Taubman. Congress was previously informed that the shooting was accidental friendly fire during an Exercise. This was due to the fact that the military was not supposed to be in actual combat there, although they were, without Congressional approval. The report stated that the wounding was not friendly fire and thus the "Dispute". This book will have you laughing, crying, and on the edge of your seat all the way into the final action packed chapter - Nina.
